PROGRESSION FROM WEEK02 - WEEK06

We were asked to visit at our site, PPOC to have a look and understand about the site given and the tasks we need to complete for the upcoming weeks in order to complete our community service initiative module. We were asked to divided among us into few different groups ;- Wall and Floor Transformation, Furniture Repairing, Learning Kit, Photography and Videos. My group and I which involved in the furniture repairing group were asked to record down the measurement of the tables, chairs and shelves, taking photos of all the existing furniture to see their condition in order for us to proceed to the next stage - Design Proposal.

Our group did a design proposal for our module lecturer for review and suggestion.
We decided to buy some new chairs which cost about RM25 per unit to replace the old ones, as the most of the old ones are damaged and cannot be repaired. As for the tables, we planned to laminate the table tops with wooden planks and paint over every single table. Other than that, we also decided to buy a new shelf which cost about RM250-RM350 to replace the old ones too. The total amount cost about RM 900.

Before we went to PPOC to start our community services, some of us went to the hardware shops to get tools such as painting brush, gloves and etc, and some of us were asked to get the paints for the table.
At the site, we started to move out all the tables and chairs from the classroom in order for us to start removing the existing damaged table tops. The main problem we faced during that time was the arrangement of tables as we were asked to setup table arrangement including the teacher's table that will affect the circulation and walkway for the user.
We smoothen the edge of every table by sandpaper before we apply the paints onto it.

For this week, we went to the site at the morning to start to touch up the paint of the table as it requires some time for it to dry up completely. While waiting for the furniture to be completely dried up, we started to assemble the shelf and chairs bought from Ikea by following the instruction book provided. After the tables dried up, we started to laminate the table top for the students' table. As for the teacher's table, we scraped off the dirt on the table and cover the table with the cloth prepared earlier on.
Then, we also scraped off the dirt on the whiteboard and apply tinna on the surfaces to remove the marker pens' stains to make it look new. Lastly, we also painted the door with grey paint.

This is the last week and we've completed our community service initiative module. We were asked to help group 01 to clean the overall classroom area to make sure it is clean before we moved in our furniture. After the cleaning job is done, we moved in the furniture and arrange them accordingly. Lastly, we cleaned up all the garbages before we left.
